EXCITING NEWS ABOUT 12 STEP MUSIC FEST IN SUGARLOAF KEY - NOVEMBER 5th - 8th, 2009

There is an event coming up here in the State of Florida that I’d like to pass the
information on to you. This event is a 12-Step Music Festival to be held in the Florida Keys November 5th – 8th. The event is being held at the KOA Campgrounds in Sugarloaf Key. The entire campground will be closed to the public. The Producers of this event refer to it as: “A mini Woodstock, minus the drugs and alcohol, but add meetings and fellowship!”

As far as the entertainment, it's going to be great! Richie Supa of Aerosmith is the opening act on Friday night and one of my very favorite local Florida performers, Mike Zito, opens on Saturday night.
I’m going to arrange for members of 12Steps4Romance to meet at a particular place and time at the campgrounds at the start of the Festival so we can begin to connect with other Singles and our Friends here from 12Steps4Romance right at the start.

For those of you (like myself) who prefer a warm, cozy bed over roughing it at the campgrounds (and besides, I don’t own a tent or a sleeping bag), following is information on accommodations at a "Lodge" and "Resort" close by to KOA. One is about 3 miles away and the other about 8 miles away (20 mts.). I suggest checking out their websites to get a better idea about which place would be more to your liking.

I am so excited about this event (I can barely contain myself as I write this). Having moved to Florida from NY about 5 years ago, the Florida Keys was a place I had wanted to revisit since I was last there at the age of 17 (back in the day). The reason why I haven't is because of the "partying" atmosphere that the Florida Keys can be known for. To have this event take place in the Keys is so perfect for me (I’m even willing to leave my 3 dogs behind and I hate leaving them for any occasion – it’s a Jewish/Italian guilt thing, thrown into one). I really hope many of you can make it.

Make sure that whichever place you book your reservation, you mention you are part of the “12StepMatch Group”. I'll make sure both places note that information in their records so we may all know who is where (only if you want that information to be shared, of course - otherwise, don't tell them anything). : )

For those of you who live out of state, you can fly into Miami International Airport and rent a car to drive to the keys. It’s nice drive and should take under 3 hours to get there. There are other options you can look into; I’ve just done a little homework for you to help make things easier and get you down there!!

*NOTE: I’m starting to get feedback from some of our members at 12StepMatch & 12Steps4Romance who would like to attend the event but are hoping to team up with another sober friend or two to save on costs for accomodations and possibly renting a car (if flying in from out of state).

Hotel accomodations are again, listed below and are approximately $120/night. The Sugarloaf Lodge (3 miles from the festival) has rooms that sleep 4. Parmers Resort has different type accomodations and efficiencies as well, etc. (for about the same fee). They are about 8 miles form the Festival. Parmers also serves breakfasts in the mornings.

The price of the event varies from $80 to $135 depending on when you purchase your tickets and how many days you plan on attending.

For those of you who live out of state, you can fly into Miami International Airport and rent a car to drive to the keys.
